Depends on the type of refrigerator. If yours is like my KitchenAid, there is a passageway between the freezer and refrigerator that delivers cold air to the refrigerator from the freezer side. A loaf of bread pushed up against this vent (which is at the back of one of the lower shelves) will prevent the cold air from entering the refrigerator.
Then again, if the two compartments are cooled separately, check their thermostat dials to be sure the refrigerator one hasn't been turned accidentally.

Default defroster

Dose your freezer have a frosted or iced area on the rear panel ? If it does your defroster isn't working.
