My electric hot water heater is leaking from the upper heating element/thermostate area. Could a leak have developed near the upper heating element or perhaps the tank is cracked?

Default ck.element gasket

-Turn off power first when working with electricity
- If you suspect the heating element(s) gasket.Replacing element gasket is not a difficult job.
-If you need to replace element(s) gasket, turn off water supply then drain water heater before replacing the element(s) gasket.
-BEFORE turning on the power to the W/H,turn on the water suppy to the W/H.Then turn on the hot water at a sink or tub to purge air from W/H tank.If you turn on power first you will burn out element(s)

Default leaking

What type of W/H do you have is it a gas W/H ? Leaking by the vent,is this the exhaust vent for the water heater? How close to the vent,is the leak right where the vent meets the tank? Or is it leaking at the TPR valve. This info will us anwser your problem.
