If the hot water is not used for a while, like overnight, there is not hot water. After using it about half hour later the water is hot. What`s the issue? Is there a thermostat that has to be replaced?

Default No hot water

Hi,
Are you saying that the hot water heater is not heating water at all? Do any of the faucets in the house deliver hot water within a minute or so of turning them on in the morning? Do you have a conventional tank-style water heater or an on-demand water heater?

Default no hot water overnight

I'm having exactly the same problem (of water not heating overnight) in a rental unit. I've been trying to figure this out and have an idea...maybe there is so much sediment in the bottom, that when it sits overnight, the sediment settles around the temperature sensor and does not allow it to operate correctly. Once water starts flowing through the water heater again in the morning, the force of the water from the dip tube stirs up the sediment enough to cause it to free up the temperature sensor and let it operate again. Any comments on this theory? I plan on trying to drain the water heater and clean the sediment out tomorrow and will update if the problem is solved by this.

Default Intermittent problems with water heater

I have a 75 gallon water heater puchased a few years ago from Sears. The model number is 153.330752. I have a two part question. On occasion the first person to take a shower in the AM will experience lukewarm water. The second person will then have nice very hot water. This happens once or twice within a two week time period.

My second question is what type of anode does this water use and where can I purchase one? Thanks.
