What is the power source for your receptacles, and how many receptacles are there?
It sounds like the receptacles are not wired correctly.

Default thanks for replying

thanks for replying. my power source is a 20a breaker. at the moment it feeds 2 bedrooms and an office. the light switches in both rooms read 132v, but the three oulets in one room have voltage drops, and the two outlets in the second room have voltage drops, as well as the two in the office. the devices in both rooms as i said read 132v, but the sitch in the office reads 32v. strangely all the lights work in all three rooms. ps. the recepticles in question are wired with old 12-2 with no ground. possibly late 50's early 60's wiring. new home run is with new 12-2 with a ground.

Try reseting any GFCI receptacles that you may have. sometimes, a GFCI receptacle in one room may effect a receptacle in another room.

Default no gfci

if i had any gfci's that would have been my first guess, but there are no gfci recepticles in this house. the recepticles are not even arc fault circuit recepticles. one junction box in the ceiling feeds three recepticles in the first room, none of which have a ground wire, only nuetral and hot. tester is showing open hot but still sets off the wiggy. the second room is the same, but the third room shows 132v to the first outlet, and only 32v to the device. yet the light in the rooms work great, on and off with no hitch. thank you again for your insight.

If your tester shows an open hot, check the hot connections in the J-box in the ceiling, and then the hot connections on all of the receptacles.
