duct
The shorter & straighter the better, you can extened the life of your dryer when making the dryer vent as resistance free as possible. It will also help you save $$$ with short drying time.
The type of duct, how many elbows & type of vent hood you use determines the lenght you can safely run a vent.To much resistance in the vent will build up lint in the dryer, plug up the blower, extened drying time & possible fire.
With 4" dia. rigid metal duct no elbows you can run 43 ft.with a 4x4 opening @ the hood. With each elbow used subtract 10ft.from the run.
With 4" dia. flexible metal duct no elbows you can run 30ft.with a 4x4 opening @ the hood. With each elbow used subtract 7ft.from the run.
Never use screws at duct joints use aluminum foil tape.Screws will trap lint.
Plastic & nonmetal flexible duct are fire hazards if the lint buildup in the dry catches fire.
If you have to make a longer run use a dryer vent booster fan.
