I think there is a rubber washer stuck in the pump motor of my dishwasher. how do I get to it to remove it? My husband was trying to "fix" it and lost a washer in the water and didn't realize it before he turned on the dishwasher. Now the dishwasher works only if I take out the part that the bottom arm is attached to (the part my husband had previously removed) and turn the top of the pump motor by hand to free it. I can hear and feel something..reminds me of a rubber band hung up on something. So I went back and saw a rubber washer missing from the arm housing...I think I know where it is.. but how do I get to it? There is a screw on top of the motor housing but it just won't release...like i need a wrench to hold a nut from underneath..which is why I don't how to access it..or if it the right thing to do. any help would be appreciated. We live in Michigan and have no spare money for a repair man with our economy here! Thanks to all who read and any who may be able to help. C

Default dishwasher

Thanks for the info..now where is this filter and how do I check/remove it? The bottom has a washer arm connected to a larger base. I have removed the two screws that hold it to the bottom of the dishwasher. Under that is a black square that in the middle has rotating fins with a screw in the middle. I can not remove the screw. When I try to turn it all that happens is the fins/blade rotate in the direction that I turn...either way. The screw does not loosen. I can loosen the four screws that hold this black square with ratating fins and turn the whole box..but it is still connected by the center screw that not loosen. I tried to remove the four screws that hold all this bottom section on and the screws come out, but nothing can be lifted or removed....so I am frustrated as to wht this filter is and how do I get to it? Thanks for your help. C
