Default I bought a new doorbell.

I bought a new doorbell. when i turn the power on from the powerbox, there is a loud humming noise coming from the doorbell. The doorbell button outside the house is suppose to light up, but it doesn`t light up or work at all unless I turn it a certain way. When I do turn or rotate the button, I sometime see voltage sparks by the screws. Is there a bad connection? The two screws holding the wires in place seem like they have some corrosion on them.

try a voltage meter and if its not showing 116 than it can be a shortage in the wire. just a little suggestion.
