I have been snaking the main drain line from the toilet (taking it up) and also from the clean out under the bldg. several times in the last 6 mos.! I keep getting the same problem, the toilet either over flows, leaks from underneath at the floor, or backs up into the tub! Can it be a clog in the toilet? Wondering if I should replace the toilet.

If it was a clog just in the toilet it wouldn't back up into the tub. When you snake out after taking up your toilet, or from the clean out are you sure you are able to go the whole distance between the two? If not, you aren't really getting the stoppage, you're just clearing out in both directions. When you go to the clean out and pull it, are you getting a bunch of waste water out of it? If it's dry, the stoppage is definately further up the pipe towards the toilet.

I think there would be a Clog
Wondering if I should replace the toilet. (I think the best solution is whether replace or use some coatings) if you want to save urself for future dangers. Check out: EPDM Liquid Rubber

The only other possible solution to her problem is rather than pulling her toilet up and snaking out the line, she should snake through her toilet, in case something is stuck in the trap. But a stoppage in her trap WOULD NOT cause a back up into her tub. |

From past experience only: If you have a septic system, the Septic tank could be full. If you are on city sewage, your main line is blocked. No it is 'not' your toilet if the water is backing up under the base or in the tub. Jim |

Try pulling the toilet them snake it. The wax ring might be bad and causes it to clog at times depending how much paper is used. |
