1st make sure your air filter is clean...dirty filter causes a air flow restriction which results with high pressure failure.

Thats the easy fix if you are lucky!

however if that doent work thier are a number of refrigerant issues that can cause it. You will probley need to get a qualified tech out to your home. Make sure you let the company you call know you may have a possible restriction in your heat pump....this way they know to send out a more experienced tech

good luck

My heat pump unit had been doin this in the past...building up to much pressure and shutting down...till it finally shut down permantly...after having it checked over..found it was a faulty TX valve on the unit..was stuck closed not allowing the gas to cycle through the system..building up pressure till it shut down the whole thing, which is a good thing cause it kept from destroying the compressor....not 100% sure in your system but certainly does sound like the same problem.
