Default How long to install cabinets?

Hi there,

I am working with a contractor to have 12 cabinets (6 base and 6 wall)installed in my 8'4" x 9'6" kitchen. There is only one base cabinet that will need modification to accomodate duct work, and these are not custom made cabinets, they arrive assembled. It does not include countertop installation or fixtures, as they are being done later. They are estimating it will take 4 days. Does this seem reasonable? Are there questions I should be asking to understand the process? I'm fine if this makes sense - but if they work a 6.5 hour day - that's more than 2 hours per cabinet.

Thanks

Default Wow.

I run a one-man cabinet shop, so I have some experience in this field. I can tell you without a doubt, that 6 base and 6 wall cabs should take 1 day to install, and that is working by myself. You need to tell your contractor that he can take all the time he wants to install them, but you are only paying him for the 1 day it should take. I average 2 boxes an hour shimmed, leveled, and attached to the wall, so this shouldn't take that long. Hope this helps. If not, let the contractor read this post

Hello,

Firstly, let me know, you are having ready-made cabinets, i preferred for ready-made, coz Ready-made cabinets are easier to install and less costly to buy.

Default Cabinets

I just installed a whole set of new kitchen cabinets myself. I had never done this before and it only took me one and a half days to do 18 cabinets and countertops. I watched some videos on a site called thediyhomepro and it made it very easy to follow. I know that there are other sites out there but this is the best I have found..., check it out
