Tell me in great detail what color wire goes to the switch, and what color wire goes from the switch to the light fixture, and, what color wire that wire is spliced to.

ok in the switch box its 3 romex 14/2 wires..1st wire set..black ,white and copper ground 2nd and 3rd are all the same....now 1st switcth black is what is attached same as for 2nd switch ...all white are wire capped together..now at the 1st light (it is a wall across the mirror type with 4 tea cup bulbs) it has the one black from the switch capped with the four blacks from the light bar...and same for the white...2nd light(its a ceiling mount 1bulb) has only one black and one white in which they are black to black and white to white..its at the switch where i uncapped the white coming into the switch box (input or hot romex) and touched it to the ground and then the switch worked..?

The white that you touch to ground,, is it connected to another white, or is it capped off by itself? And,, does the switch work at all? Or does it not work, as it is (not grounding out the white)?

i use the input(hot romex black and white) black wire to the switch jumper black wire.. the input(romex) white to the ground wires ..ground wires are all capped together .....but in the switch box the switches both have black jumpers connected to the hot wire(BLACK WIRE) and then to romex back to light...now the white from lights come and connect all 3 wires together in a wire cap..hope this makes sense..
